Officers from the Rotterdam Police Department responded to a residence on Cobblestone Court for a report of a stabbing at around 7:20 p.m. Sunday, March 16.
Inside, they discovered Catherine Haggerty, 79, deceased, a Rotterdam Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Voice.
Officers arrested the victim’s son, 39-year-old Patrick Haggerty, on suspicion of second-degree murder, police said. He was held at the Schenectady County jail ahead of arraignment.
Detectives did not speculate on a possible motive for the killing, but noted the incident appeared to be “domestic in nature” and is still under investigation.
